Christmas 2010

We had a great Christmas this year... minus the sickness we were all passing around.

I've been putting off a toothache for almost a month and finally decided to go see the dentist about it.  Long story short, I had a root canal 3 days before Christmas.  I was also battling sinus crap for the past two weeks and started an antibiotic (partly for my very infected tooth and partly for sinusitis) hoping to feel better in time for Christmas. Sadie got a fever, cough and congestion a few days before Christmas and was pretty sick all weekend.

We made cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve and let Sadie help frost and decorate them.  She had a great time picking the colors of frosting and sprinkles.  We wrote a couple notes for Santa and then, MUCH to our dismay, Spencer headed to work.  :(

Sadie and I went to my parent's house for Christmas Eve dinner and she thoroughly enjoyed playing with all the cousins, even through her 102 fever.  We sang Christmas carols with the family and headed home early for a LONG night.

My favorite present was Spencer surprising me and getting off early on Christmas Eve!  He was scheduled to work til 1 am, but was able to come home at 8:30 pm!  I was SO excited!

Thank heaven Spencer got off early because Christmas Eve seemed to be Sadie's worst night.  She was up 4 different times coughing, throwing up and fevering like crazy.  Poor kid.  We had to wake her up Christmas morning and it took her a while to really wake up, but once she did, she forgot all about her fever and enjoyed the day!

After opening a few gifts at our house, we went back to Grandpa and Grandma Nyman's house and had a big tasty breakfast and finished opening presents with them.  Sadie loved helping everyone open their gifts!

We loved watching Sadie open her gifts and we were definitely spoiled!

Santa, Snowman & Shows

Sadie is loving the Christmas season!  She's already gotten to see Santa twice and she LOVES him.  She doesn't even care about telling him what she wants; she thinks just sitting on his lap is the greatest thing and loves that both times she saw him she got a prize! 

Sadie LOVES the snow too.  She asks to eat it and play in it every time it snows.  Last time it snowed daddy helped her build a Sadie sized Snowman in the backyard.  She loved EVERY minute of it.

We also went to the Festival of Lights and Riverwoods Shopping Center to see the lights there.  Sadie loves to talk about the colors of all the trees and had a great time at both places. 

Lastly, Spencer has started showing Sadie all of his favorite childhood Christmas movies.  She's currently in love with Garfield Christmas, Claymation Christmas and Sesame Street Christmas.  :) 

We're gonna have a hard time when Christmas is over!

Christmas Decor

I'm not sure if it's because it's our third year in this house and we finally know where everything should go, or if we didn't care as much but our Christmas decorating went SO smoothly this year!

First reason?  This incredible Christmas tree stand. 

My dad chops down a real tree for us every year (which I LOVE) and every year we fight with the tree stand to get the tree up straight.  Last year, we finally forked over the money and made the best investment ever!  This thing is amazing.  You simply put the tree in, step on the pedal several times and it AUTOMATICALLY straightens and stands the tree for you.  Holy awesomeness.

Spencer cut the tree to size and put it up all before I got home from work.  Fantastic, right?  We let Sadie help with the lights and ornaments which she loved, and she's even doing a pretty good job of not touching everything...  pretty good.   :)
