The Reason I Blog

"You will have significant experiences. I hope you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences." -- Gordon B. Hinckley

Family Pics

We got our yearly family pictures done a couple weeks ago!

And even though I don't like what Afton wore (it looked better on the hanger...) we love the way they turned out!  Here are just a few of my favorites.

Countertop Transformation

We've been doing a few minor upgrades around the house lately.  I really wanted to re-do the countertops in the kitchen but we didn't want to spend the money on granite (since we hopefully won't be here long enough to make that worth it). I did some research on this Countertop Transformation kit and we decided to go for it.

Here are the before and afters...

The beautiful 90's grayish Formica

All prepped and ready to start

Mid color change

Clear coat lacquer

The finished product!

It made our kitchen SO much brighter!  It was pretty tough not being able to use the counters for a whole week, but we're really happy with the end result!

What's in a name??

Anyone got any good ideas for a baby name?

Cause we need one.

Splash Pad

We're trying our hardest to soak up the last of the hot summer days!  For Family Home Evening this week we went to the Riverwoods Splash Pad and had a fabulous time!

And of course, we stopped at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for dessert  :)

Lindon Parade

We love the Lindon parade.  The parade route is literally right in front of my parents house so we just set up chairs early in the morning and then walk outside about 5 minutes before it starts.  SO nice.  Plus, it's in the shade the whole time.

There were LONG pauses between each of the entries this year so it made for a very slow moving parade, but the kids got tons of candy and still had a great time.

 During one of the pauses...

Sadie wouldn't go out into the street for candy unless
she was holding Bryce's hand.
Adorable.

And sadly, those are the only pictures I took all day.  Oh well.  We had a great time!
