We just got back from a little vacation to St George with the girls, or as Spencer calls it, a trip with kids... Trying to keep both kids happy, fed, entertained and make sure we planned all our activities around Afton's naps was tough to say the least, but we really did have a great time.
The ride down was not the greatest. Sadie got car sick and said she was going to throw up about a dozen times. We stopped for her 4 times, but she never did throw up.
Afton NEVER sleeps in the car, so she threw a fit for about 40 minutes before finally giving in and taking a nap. Other than that, it was a nice drive... :)
We rented a condo for the week instead of getting a hotel and it was awesome! Much better than trying to stay in one hotel room together (especially since the kids go to bed at 8 pm and Afton is the lightest sleeper alive...)
Even though we had naps to work around we still managed to do a bunch of fun things. Spencer and Sadie went swimming the first day while I stayed back for Afton to nap. Afterward, we hit up the outlets and got a few things for the girls. Then I got to visit my old friend Karen! Sadie and her little boy Peyton had no problem playing together for a couple hours while we talked. Oh how I've missed her...
We spent some time on the playgrounds and both girls loved it. You can tell we're aching for spring.
Sadie wore her sunglasses the WHOLE time. Love it.
Geez, from her grip on my pants, you'd think she was a little nervous.
Afton loved the swings. I think she could have stayed in there for hours.
The next day Sadie got to ride in her first go-kart! Spencer took her in a double car and thanks to his emergency vehicle operation training, they beat everyone around the track. They both had a pretty awesome time and are constantly talking about going again soon.
so excited!
I can't get over how tiny she looks in that thing!
Later that day we met up with Spencer's friend Eric and his family for lunch and a walk in snow canyon.
We went "off-roading" with the stroller. Afton thought it was awesome.
Heading up to the peak.
My cute family
Heading back to the cars.
We wish we could have stayed longer, but alas, Afton's nap was long over-due and she was making sure we knew it.
Before we knew it, it was time to go home. We were pretty apprehensive about the drive after the trip down, but thankfully both girls did great! Sadie never felt car sick and Afton took a nap without much of a fight.
Sadie's V-Smile kept her entertained a LOT on the drive home
Happy kid after a good nap
We tried tasty new restaurants, got to see old friends and didn't have to cook, do laundry or dishes. I'd say that counts as a vacation. :)
